WOMEN'S ALLIANCE
The Women's Alliance offers opportunities for members and friends of the UU Area Church to provide service to our surrounding communities, to raise money for the church and to join together in programs of educational significance and good times together. We have a minimum of four meetings a year including our annual meeting in April and the strawberry picnic in June. We sponsor an annual Tea (Holiday or Spring) to which all the women of the church are invited. The Alliance endeavors to educate about women's issues, local and global, and seeks ways to empower women and children throughout the world. The primary fundraising activity of the Alliance is the Good as New Shop (GANS), a consignment shop (for clothing, household items, bric-a-brac, etc.) open every Wednesday as a valuable service to our patrons who come from over thirty nearby communities. The money we earn enables the Alliance to annually contribute to the church budget, to provide scholarships for church members to attend UU activities, and to donate to nearby food pantries. The GANS staff also delivers hot meals for the Sherborn Council on Aging to seniors in the town on Wednesdays.
Membership is open to all women who are members or friends of the church. Dues are $5.00 a year to defray incidental costs and mailing fees. Speak to one of the officers - that's all it takes to become one of us.
