WAYS TO GIVE
Pledges
Pledges are a written statement of a gift intention signed by the donor. They are paid over time to enable a donor to make a larger contribution than might be possible in a single donation. Pledges are generally paid over a one-year period for a Stewardship Campaign or longer for a capital campaign.
Pledge payments can be:
- mailed to the church at UUAC at First Parish Sherborn, : PO Box 158,
11 Washington Street, Sherborn MA 01770
- brought to the church office
- made online via our secure gateway
- placed in the Sunday collection plate
- paid by automatic Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) that is debited from your bank account. Simply download the authorization form, complete it and bring it to church with a voided check or savings deposit slip.
Gifts of Cash
Cash is a simple way to make payments or outright donations. They are fully deductible for federal income tax purposes to the extent provided by the law. If placed in the Sunday Collection plate, donation must be clearly identified (such as notation of Stewardship or Dream campaign pledge on a check). If there is no notation on a check, it will be attributed to Stewardship.
Gifts of Appreciated Securities
Securities can be in the form of stocks, bonds or mutual funds. They offer significant tax advantages since the donor can take a deduction for the full fair market value of the stock. Please contact Dennis Woessner, UUAC Treasurer, for delivery instructions to send securities to the church’s Fidelity account:
woessner@rcn.com (508) 864-0141.
Matching Gifts
Matching gifts enable the donor to double, even triple the value of their gift to the UUAC since the employer can match charitable gifts made by employees, retirees, directors and spouses to a charitable institution.
Other Ways of Giving
Gifts of tangible personal property, life insurance, real estate, and retirement plans support the UUAC as do gifts in trusts, bequests, and deferred gifts. We strongly urge you to consult your personal financial advisor for specific financial or tax guidance.
